Family protests with woman’s body outside partner’s home in Telangana; murder alleged
text_fieldsHyderabad: Tension gripped the Sangareddy district in Telangana on Saturday after the family of a 23-year-old woman, who allegedly died by suicide, staged a protest with her body outside her partner's residence.
Alleging that the death was a murder disguised as a suicide, the family demanded justice outside the home of S. Srikanth in Manik Naik Tanda, Nizampet mandal. The deceased, identified as V. Kaveri from Kadapal Vithal Naik Tanda in Sirgapoor mandal, had been in a relationship with Srikanth.
According to reports, the couple had migrated to Hyderabad and settled in LB Nagar in a live-in relationship after their respective families opposed their proposal to get married. Police stated that Kaveri died, allegedly by hanging, at their Hyderabad residence following differences with Srikanth.
However, Kaveri’s parents have rejected the suicide theory, accusing Srikanth of murder. Following a complaint, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The situation escalated on Saturday night when relatives, while transporting Kaveri’s body to her native village for last rites, diverted the procession to Srikanth’s home to stage a demonstration.
Police forces were rushed to the village as a precautionary measure to prevent any outbreak of violence. Village elders have reportedly intervened to mediate between the two families.
