Activist Disha Ravi sent to jail for three more days
text_fieldsClimate activist Disha Ravi has been sent to jail for three more days following arrest over the farmers' protests toolkit tweeted by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg listing ways of extending solidarity to the farmers' protest raging in the capital. The 22-year-old was arrested from her home in Bangalore last week by the Delhi police under charges including conspiracy and sedition for allegedly having created the toolkit with activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk.
The Delhi Police, who claim to have recovered "highly incriminating evidence", presented Disha in a district court today seeking an extension of judicial custody for the possibility of "evidence tampering". Disha has been in custody for five days now.
However, Disha has denied having created the toolkit. "I did not make the toolkit. We wanted to support the farmers. I edited two lines on February 3," she told a Delhi Court on Sunday.
The police have alleged that the toolkit "spread misinformation against the lawfully elected government" and "sought public participation in the action on January 26".
Disha's arrest has sparked massive outrage amongst the opposition, farmers' leaders and the public.
