Delhi riots 2020: Court grants interim bail to accused Khalid Saifi
text_fieldsA Delhi court on Thursday allowed 13 days of interim bail to Khalid Saifi, an accused in the larger conspiracy case linked to the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots, citing his request to attend his nephews’ wedding and to spend Ramzan with his family.
Granting relief from February 6 to 13, the Karkardooma court directed the founder of United Against Hate (UHA) to furnish a personal bond of ₹20,000, Indian Express reported.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai said Saifi must not contact any witnesses, leave Delhi or the National Capital Region during the bail period, interact with the media, or post or engage in any activity on social media.
The prosecution has alleged that Saifi took part in meetings to plan the riots, including discussions on arranging funds for weapons.
It has further claimed that he organised a meeting after the violence to manage a cover-up, received money to procure firearms, and instructed protesters to disable CCTV cameras during the riots.
