New Delhi: Senior Supreme Court advocate, Prashant Bhushan has alleged that actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu, who is accused by farmers' organizations of hoisting the flag on the ramparts of Red Fort on Tuesday, has close links with the BJP. Prashant Bhushan shared a photo of Deep Sidhu standing with Narendra Modi on Twitter.

He tweeted that it was Deep Sidhu who hoisted the flag at Redfort. The other day, farmers' organizations had levelled similar allegations against Deep Sidhu. Gurnam Singh, president of the Haryana unit of the Indian Kisan Union, made the allegation. He had pointed out that Sidhu had misled the farmers and led to violence.

In his defence, Deep in his Facebook live video had said, "We only hoisted the Nishan Sahib at the Red Fort while exercising our democratic right to protest, the Indian flag was not removed."

Several farmers' organisations had even opposed Deep Sidhu's involvement in their protest and accused him of being a "BJP-RSS agent" owing to his pictures with PM Narendra Modi and MP Sunny Deol as a part of Deol's 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign.

Deep Sidhu, however denied these charges.
