Daily Covid cases in India top 8000, sharpest rise since January wave
text_fieldsIndia registered a total of 8,329 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, marking a 9.8 percent increase since yesterday. Maharashtra reported the maximum number of fresh infections with cases breaching the 3,000 mark.
The top five states which registered the maximum cases are Maharashtra with 3,081 cases, followed by Kerala with 2,415 cases, Delhi with 655 cases, Karnataka with 525 cases, and Haryana with 327 cases.
Of the new cases logged in the last 24 hours, 84.08% were reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 36.99 percent of the new cases.
The total Covid-19 caseload in India stands at 4,32,13,435, with the active caseload at 40,370. In the last 24 hours, active cases have increased by 4,103.
A total of 10 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total reported death count to 5,24,757.
India's recovery rate now stands at 98.69 percent. A total of 4,216 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 4,26,48,308 across the country.
India has administered a total of 15,08,406 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,94,92,71,111. A total of 3,44,994 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
