Hyderabad: A 16-year-old died in a petty fight that broke out in the classroom Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Manzoor, was student at Sai Krupa High School in Yousufguda.

An argument broke out between the victim and two other boys, police reportedly said, as they were playing cricket during lunch break with papers rolled into a ball.

The scuffle broke out after the paper ball hit him; following arguments two students pounced on him, raining blows.

Manzoor fell on the edge of the bench and collapsed on the ground.

The school authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was subsequently shifted to Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills, where he succumbed to injuries.

Manzoor suffered head injury, probably from either fist blows or after falling on the edge of the bench.

As well as examining CCTV footage from the classroom, police were quizzing juveniles involved in the incident.

Police recorded the statement of students present at the time of the scuffle.

The victim's parents complained to the police that he died due to negligence of the school authorities.

Manzoor is the second of three sons of Habeeb , who is a fruit vendor, living in a rented house in the area.

Though badly off, Habeeb was supporting his son through school.

This is the second incident in Hyderabad. In an earlier incident in September 2015, a Class 10 student died during a clash with a classmate at St. Joseph's Public School here.
