Captaincy is an honour and responsibility, nothing changes for Kohli: Gautam Gambhir
cancel

Virat Kohli's thinking would not have changed just because he no longer leads Indian cricket in all formats, says former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir was asked about the development following Kohli's resignation as captain of India's Test team. He responded: "Nothing has changed."

The only thing that matters when you are a kid is trying to win matches for your country. You don't dream of being the captain from day one, so for me it has never changed.Gambhir said: "Captaincy is a great honour and responsibility and I'm sure Virat feels the same way.

Initially, Kohli left his ODI and Test captaincy in October 2021, but he later admitted he wanted to stay on for ODI and Test cricket. However, he was later booted from the captaincy after India's early exit from the T20 World Cup.

After playing under Rahul's captaincy in the ODI series in South Africa, he will play under Rohit Sharma in the next ODI and T20I series against West Indies.
