Boy stripped naked, made to dance at Bengaluru school hostel, 6 arrested
text_fieldsBengaluru: Six students of an international school in Bengaluru have been arrested for ragging and sexually assaulting a minor boy in the hostel.
The hostel warden was also taken into custody over negligence despite the 15-year-old complained to him about the incident, The Indian Express reported.
The senior students on September 3, according to Bannerghatta police, allegedly stripped the boy and forced him to dance naked.
The assault including beating the boy with steel hangers continued the following night as well, despite he begged them to stop.
On September 5 and 6, the senior students allegedly poured hot and cold water on him.
A police officer reportedly said that the boy had complained to the warden which he ignored treating it as a minor issue, adding ‘Later, he informed the boy’s parents, who immediately approached the police and filed a complaint. The warden has been arrested on the charges of negligence and failing to act despite knowing about the incident.’
A case has been registered against the senior students under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, charging them with criminal intimidation and sexual assault.
The principal of the school was questioned in connection with the incident, according to the report.
In another incident in July, a 22-year-old man from Hassan district studying engineering in architecture in Reva University in Bengaluru died by suicide after his classmates harassed him online.
