text_fieldsPatna: With exit polls having predicted clear victory for RJD-led Grand Alliance, the candidates across the divide are sitting either finger crossed or nail-biting.
It means fate of over 3,700 candidates in race to 243 seats of the state Assembly will be decided in a few hours from now.
Counting is underway amid tight security at 55 locations in 38 districts of the state. Alongside, precautions against covid situation are in place.
The polls saw over 7.30 crore electors voting to choose the next government in the state, in the first major polls following covid pandemic.
Exit polls project a sweeping victory for the Grand Alliance led by RJD, and its chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav coming to power.
Bihar voted for the 243-member Assembly in three phases -- October 28, November 3 and November 7.
The RJD had won 80 seats in the 2015 Assembly polls, while the JD(U) won 71 seats. The BJP had won 53 seats and the LJP managed two seats.
The Bihar election is being seen as a referendum on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose JD(U) is in alliance with the BJP-led NDA. Nitish Kumar has governed Bihar three times in a row since 2005.

NDA supporters confident of forming government under Nitish
With every passing minute, JDU and BJP supporters are making claims of being confident of forming a new government in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
"We are a disciplined party that works well under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. He has taken Bihar on the path of progress. We knew that the results will come in our favour and the trend so far has been according to our expectations.",said Sanjay Singh, spokesperson of the JDU
With trends looking positive for the NDA in Bihar for the past couple of hours at 2 pm, both the JDU and the BJP supporters are preparing to celebrate the occasion at their respective offices.

Close fight on 38 seats with less than 1K vote difference
RJD candidate Ajay Yadav leads in the Atri Assembly seat by just 848 votes.
While the JD(U) candidate from Bajpatti Assembly seat is trailing by 380 votes from the RJD candidate.

In the Bihariganj Assembly seat, the Congress candidate is leading over the JD(U) candidate by just eight votes.
Similarly, BJP's Mithilesh Tiwari was ahead by just 22 votes at the Baikunthpur Assembly seat.

Close fight on 38 seats with less than 1K vote difference
After four rounds of counting for the 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections on Tuesday, 38 constituencies are witnessing a very close fight between the NDA and the Grand Alliance.
There is a gap of less than 1,000 votes between the leading and the first trailing candidate in these seats.
In some seats, the difference is less than 50 votes.

Congress misses mark as BJP gains in Bihar polls
As the trends are coming in from polling centres, the BJP is emerging as the single-largest party in the state but the Congress is not able to repeat its 2015 performance of 27 seats and the Mahagathbandhan is behind the NDA.
As per trends, at 12 noon the BJP is emerging as the single-largest party with 73 seats. While the RJD is leading at 57 seats, the JDU at 51 and the Congress at 21 seats.
