Assam’s final electoral roll published; 2.43 lakh names deleted
text_fieldsGuwahati: The final voters’ list was published in poll-bound Assam on Tuesday, with over 2.43 lakh names deleted from the draft electoral roll, an Election Commission official said.
According to a statement issued by the office of the Assam Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the final electoral roll includes nearly 1.25 crore male voters, 1.24 crore female voters, and 343 voters registered under the third gender category.
Following the completion of the claims and objections process, the state now has a total of 2.49 crore voters on the final roll. This marks a decline of 0.97 per cent compared to the draft electoral roll, the statement said.
The draft voters’ list, which was published on December 27 last year, had a total of 2.52 crore enrolled voters. Of these, more than 2.43 lakh names were deleted in the final list.
Assam is scheduled to go to the Assembly polls in the coming months.
