Assam man arrested for dressing up as 'Shiva' protesting against inflation
text_fieldsNagaon: A man who dressed up as lord Shiva to protest against rising price of fuel and food items was arrested in Assam.
Birinchi Bora is charged with hurting the sentiments of Hindu Sanatan Dharma after acting out as Shiva, according to India Today.
Karshama who played the supporting role of Parvathi also faces similar charges.
The controversy, following the 'smoking Kaali" poster row, took place in Assam's Nagaon after Bora and Karishma protested dressing up as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
They arrived at College Chowk in Nagaon on bike and staged a drama about the vehicle running out of fuel.
Attacking PM Modi, 'Shiva' blamed the government was working only in the interest of the capitalists. He then urged onlookers to protest the rising inflation.
The district units of right-wing Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad units came down heavily on the drama, alleging the drama hurt sentiments of Hindu Sanatan Dharma.
