Hyderabad (Telangana): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday called Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy a ‘puppet of RSS’.

Asaduddin Owaisi was getting back at Reddy for saying that Owaisi ‘wears a khki knicker under his shervani’.

AIMIM chief said that Raddy was practicing ‘dog whistle politics’ targeting the minorities, NDTV reported.

‘You don't have anything to criticise against us. You speak about our clothes and beards and attack us. It is called dog whistle politics. You are an RSS puppet. There is no difference between the BJP and the Congress,’ Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Reddy while speaking to rally here.

Revanth Reddy on Sunday targeted Owaisi, leading to trading barbs with each other in the thick of campaigning for polls.

The AIMIM chief said Reddy had begun as an RSS member wearing a chaddi before joining ABVP and subsequently joined Telungu Desam and crossed over to Congress.

‘Someone said it right that Congress's Gandhi Bhavan is captured by Mohan Bhagwat and will run Congress however he wants,’ Owaisi was quoted as saying.

Owaisi compared Revanth Reddy’s words to PM Modi’s alleged comments that CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protesters could be identified by their dress.

Revanth Reddy also criticised Owaisi for the latter having links to BJP and alleged that he had hosted a senior leader close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He further challenged Owaisi to take oath on the Quran at Mecca Masjid that he had not met the leader at his residence at Shastripuram. Reddy also said that on his part he was ready to take an oath at the Bhagyalakshmi temple affirming the allegation.

Telangana is seeing increasing campaign for the Assembly polls on November 30.
