text_fieldsBengaluru: Police in Karnataka charged six men with raping a woman at a deserted place where they had taken her from a hotel.
The alleged incident happened after the six men barged into a hotel in Hanagal Taluk of Haveri District and thrashed an interfaith couple, NDTV reported.
She alleged that the men later took her to a deserted place and took turns to rape her.
The six men forced her into a car and drove around the city after raping her in the forest.
She reportedly said in a video released yesterday that ‘The driver also raped me,’ adding ‘they later dropped me at a bus stop. I want them to be punished’.
However, Anshu Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Haveri said that police were not told about rape earlier.
‘We weren't told about rape earlier. We came to know about this only through media report about the video by the woman. We have booked a case under the appropriate section,’ said Anshu Kumar was quoted as saying.
The Muslim woman, married, had checked into the hotel with the man she was in relationship with.
The attackers arrived at the hotel and waited outside the room.
They made videos of the incident beginning with recording the room number before knocking on the door.
When a man opened the door on the inside, the men barged into the room lunging at her.
As the woman tried to cover her face with burqa, the men hit her muttering expletives.
Her companion was assaulted as he tried to run out of the room.
One of the attackers was seen cornering the woman near the bed as another hit and dragged her on the floor.
Two out of the six men, who are from the minority community, have been arrested.
