New Delhi: Three people injured in a gunfight that broke out between a gang of robbers and a jewellery owner in a store in Bihar's Begusarai, NDTV reported.

CCTV footage from the jewellery store could outshine movie scenes with cross firing and people scrambling for safety.

It is reported citing police that an employee of the store and two of the robbers were injured in gunfight after the store owner fired in self-defence, according to the police.

The police said that the two injured robbers have been arrested.

Pramod Poddar, the store owner, accused the administration of not providing security despite requests considering Dhanteras ahead of Diwali.

The CCTV footage showed robbers entering the store shouting at the people to stay away and one of them, pistol in his hand, snatched ornaments on the display rack.

Afterwards, he jumped across the glass counter and grabbed more ornaments, just as the gunfight broke out in the store.

Poddar claimed the robbers made away with jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh from the store in Patel Chowk.

‘The criminals opened fire, injuring one of our employees Ajay. After this, I also fired at two of the criminals. Police arrested both and sent them for treatment,’ Poddar was quoted as saying.

He further said that the administration did not provide security even after informing them that ‘ we were preparing for Dhanteras’ .

The police said investigation is underway.
