1.4 Lakh users opt for new FASTag Annual Pass on day one
text_fieldsThe FASTag Annual Pass introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received a strong response from commuters.
Around 1.4 lakh users purchased and activated the pass by 7:00 pm on its launch day, August 15.
Implemented at nearly 1,150 toll plazas across National Highways and Expressways, the scheme has been hailed as a convenient and economical option for frequent travelers.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, toll plazas recorded 1.39 lakh transactions under the new pass on the very first day.
NHAI officials noted that the Rajmargyatra App saw between 20,000 and 25,000 concurrent users at any given time, while annual pass holders received SMS confirmations showing zero toll deductions.
To ensure smooth travel, the NHAI has deployed officials and nodal officers at every toll plaza, in addition to enhancing the 1033 National Highway Helpline with over 100 new executives. “NHAI officials and Nodal officers have been appointed on each toll plaza to ensure a smooth travel experience for the pass users… grievances of pass users [are being addressed] through various channels,” the authority said.
The FASTag Annual Pass, available for non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag, can be purchased for a one-time fee of ₹3,000, covering either one year of validity or 200 toll crossings. The pass becomes active within two hours of payment via the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
With over 8 crore users and a penetration rate of 98%, FASTag has already transformed electronic toll collection in India.
The government says the annual pass will further enhance user convenience while making highway journeys more seamless and economical.
