100 plus people converted to Hindu via "Ghar Vapasi": UP BJP MLA
text_fieldsBulandshahr: A BJP leader and MLA from Uttar Pradesh claimed that more than 100 individuals from 20 families of Khurja adopted Hinduism on Sunday, PTI reported.
The president of a social organisation said that the conversion happened during a "Ghar Vapasi" programme organised by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).
Khurja MLA Minakshi Singh said, "100-125 people from 20 families, belonging from different religions, have happily adopted 'Sanatan Dharma' (Hinduism)."
Singh said that the programme brought back to Hindu society those who had left "Sanatan Dharma" some generations or years ago due to their situation or confusion.
She added that those converted took an oath to pray to Sri Ram, Sri Krishna and other Sanatan gods and goddesses here after.
The MLA said the legal procedures were also carried out ahead of the programme. All the families had given their consent in affidavits before the rituals were conducted, the MLA said.
