What have I done, the baby's always screaming, says Freida Pinto on postpartum anxiety

Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto recently opened up about experiencing anxiety after the birth of her first child. She said that after three months of bliss, she was always crying, feeling alone, and feeling anxious.
The former model got married to her longtime boyfriend Cory Tran in 2020 and their first child Rumi-Ray was born in November 2021. Freida said that the first three months after the birth of her son were blissful. In the fourth month, she went back to Los Angeles thinking of getting back to work but that's when the anxiety really started building.
"But it really hit me after the first three months. In the fourth month when I flew back to LA, and I was ready to kind of dip my toe back into work, the anxiety really started building. I was feeling like 'I can’t do this, what have I done, the baby's always screaming. I remember crying so much and feeling so alone and my parents had just about left to fly back to India," said the 38-year-old.
It was her husband who suggested therapy. "The things you were saying and the things you are doing it is also feeling very self-sabotaging. You need the sleep but you are sitting up trying to fix things and plan things," said Cory.
The actress assured her listeners that she is better now and is ready to talk about her postpartum journey. "I can say today it is so normal. It was horrible, but I'm happy I went through that because I can relate better. If my entire journey was without any hiccups, then I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you about my postpartum journey."
She was talking to Catt Sadler on the podcast 'It Sure Is A Beautiful Day'.
Freida also shared a video from the podcast on her Instagram and wrote: "I had a very candid conversation with @iamcattsadler about one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. We covered big topics surrounding my postpartum journey, marriage, and career."
Hollywood actor-producer Mindy Kaling commented, "You are the best". Sadler said that her speaking up about the experience will help many other women.
Freida has often shared peeks into her family life but hasn't revealed the baby's face on Instagram yet.
The actress also had a secret wedding during the pandemic. She spoke about the big day on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "I should clear the air. I wasn't planning a big fat Indian wedding. It was just going to be something pretty and simple. But the Covid happened and is still happening and we just realised we were going to be planning this for the rest of our lives and probably never doing it."
"Honestly, I have to stay if any of you planned a wedding, you probably know this, I do not want stomach ulcers from planning my own wedding. This was perfect! We got married and then we got to go home and take an afternoon nap," she added.
She was seen at Cannes 2023 yesterday wearing a sea blue sequin gown by Jenny Packham. Earlier this year, she also visited her alma mater St. Xavier's College in Mumbai. Her chic, uber-cool looks had impressed the fans. Three weeks ago, it was announced that she has joined the season 2 cast of the Apple TV series 'Surface'.
