Sonam Kapoor, who has taken a hiatus from acting to focus on motherhood, recently attended an event in Mumbai where she praised fellow actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Tabu for giving "agency" to women through their roles on screen.

In an interview with India Today, Sonam Kapoor discussed the challenges of making certain kinds of films today.

She mentioned that it's not necessarily easier to make films like "Thank You For Coming," which is produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor and father Anil Kapoor. However, she commended actresses who take on such roles and highlighted the contributions of Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, Alia Bhatt, and others in empowering female characters on screen.

Sonam Kapoor expressed her gratitude towards actresses who have paved the way for women to have agency in films. She also acknowledged the legacy of yesteryear actresses like Waheeda Rehman, Nutan, and Nargis, emphasising the importance of recognising the trailblazers who have enabled women to have a stronger presence in the industry.

Sonam Kapoor's most recent film was the crime thriller "Blind," released on July 7, 2023. She is also reported to be working on the film adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's novel "Battle for Bittora" in the near future.
