Mohanlal announces Drishyam 3 release date, film to arrive before Hindi version
text_fieldsActor Mohanlal on Wednesday announced that Drishyam 3 will be released worldwide on April 2, 2026, bringing the much-awaited next chapter of the popular film franchise to theatres ahead of its Hindi remake.
The actor shared the announcement on X, writing, “Years passed. The past didn’t. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release | 2 April 2026.”
Mohanlal had begun work on the film last year on the eve of receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honour.
The third installment was officially launched with a traditional puja ceremony at a law college near Kochi in September 2025. Speaking to the media at the time, director Jeethu Joseph said the film would focus on the next phase in the life of Georgekutty, the character made iconic by Mohanlal.
“The film focuses on what happens in Georgekutty’s life after four and a half years. That is the crux of the story,” Jeethu Joseph said.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor said the decision to proceed with Drishyam 3 was taken after extensive discussions. He said the overwhelming response to the first two films convinced the team that Georgekutty’s story still had more to offer.
The film was shot across multiple locations, including Thodupuzha and Vagamon, with the final five-day schedule completed in Ernakulam.
The Hindi version of Drishyam 3, starring Ajay Devgn, is slated for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
