Kareena Kapoor Khan's "The Buckingham Murders" to open MAMI Film Festival 2023

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to step into the spotlight with her upcoming role in the detective thriller, "The Buckingham Murders," which has been selected as the opening film for the highly anticipated MAMI Film Festival 2023.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is making a thrilling comeback to the genre after her remarkable performance in the suspenseful film "Jaane Jaan," which was released on an OTT platform. Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, "The Buckingham Murders" is poised to premiere at the MAMI Film Festival 2023 following its successful debut at the BFI London Film Festival.

Expressing her delight about this achievement, Kareena Kapoor Khan revealed that it is indeed an honour for her.

Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed her happiness about "The Buckingham Murders" being selected as the opening film for MAMI Film Festival 2023. Yesterday, the official Instagram account of the MAMI Film Festival 2023 unveiled that Kareena will be in the lead role in "The Buckingham Murders." Kareena conveyed her gratitude, stating, “It’s an honour for me as an actor and first-time co-producer that my film will open the Jio MAMI Mumbai film festival.”

Elaborating on her thoughts about the festival, Kareena remarked, "It’s a place where movies are celebrated, and all creative art forms are honoured. Can’t be happier to have our film grace the stage at Jio MAMI."

She went on to emphasise the special significance of the movie for her, as it marks her debut as a co-producer. Kareena expressed her satisfaction with the immersive and fulfilling collaboration with Hansal Mehta and Ektaa Kapoor. She mentioned that their collective hope is for the film to reach diverse audiences and break barriers on a global scale.

Director Hansal Mehta also shared his sentiments about the MAMI Film Festival, stating that the festival has felt like home since his cinematic rebirth with the critically acclaimed "Shahid."

Returning with "The Buckingham Murders" as the opening film is a source of personal pride for him. He said, "It’s the story of South Asian communities settled outside India, and it is heartening to see the world take notice of the kind of cinema we are now capable of producing in India."
