Janhvi Kapoor expresses regret over not learning Telugu for Devara
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, known for her busy schedule and impressive film lineup, is set to make her Telugu film debut in Koratala Siva's "Devara," alongside Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
In a recent interview with The Week, Kapoor shared her feelings about the project, expressing regret over not learning Telugu for the film.
Receiving the dialogues for "Devara," Kapoor expressed her eagerness to focus on learning her lines, saying, "I just received the dialogues of Devara last night, and all I want to do is sit in my room and learn my lines." She admitted, "I never learned Telugu, and it is something I am ashamed of. I can understand it phonetically, but I can't speak it. Yes, it is one of my biggest regrets."
Reflecting on her dormant knowledge of the language, Kapoor acknowledged the support from the "Devara" team, describing them as patient and helpful. She expressed gratitude for their assistance, emphasising their availability to help her with the Telugu dialogues.
On Karan Johar's talk show "Koffee With Karan 8" last year, Kapoor discussed her experience working on "Devara," stating, "I realised this when I showed up on set, on the Devara film sets. It felt like everything I have done up until now has been like workshops, or like getting ready, or getting to know myself." Kapoor highlighted that her earlier experiences had prepared her for this moment, expressing her calling and a sense of self-assurance.
"Devara" is scheduled for theatrical release on October 10, marking the collaboration between Janhvi Kapoor and Telugu superstar Jr NTR.
