"I'll grab a needle and thread", Simone Ashley wants to learn embroidery after the Dior show
text_fieldsMumbai: British actress Simone Ashley was in attendance for Dior's first-ever fashion show in India at the Gateway of India. And she is inspired by the rich embroidery put on display.
The Bridgerton actress said that she was lucky to be able to witness the craftsmanship and is inspired to learn embroidery. She said, "I will just grab a needle and thread."
Dior's pre-fall 2023 collection is inspired by India and had an installation of a 14-meter tall toran that had intricate phulkari, mirror work, french knotting, and kantha work on it. Over 300 master artisans from the Chanakya School of Craft worked on it for months.
Sharing several photos from the event on Instagram, she wrote, "In Mumbai with Dior. Thank you Dior, and to the Chanakya School Of Craft for welcoming us at your school and workshop. It was so awesome to see the talented women at work. I discovered so much about the different kinds of embroidery and the craftsmanship that goes into every detail to create the most extraordinary and beautiful pieces. I felt so lucky to see this in person. Perhaps I'll grab a needle and thread and learn one day too."
In the first photograph, Simone was seen at the venue in a white Dior outfit and basking in the sunshine. In another pic, she wore a pink outfit against a classy backdrop. She was also seen with Poorna Jagannathan. A video shared by the actress showed the piece that took over 35,000 hours of handwork.
Simone played Kate Sharma in the second season of the Netflix show Bridgerton.
