‘I always wanted to be a chef’: Dhanush says ahead of ‘Idli Kadai’

Chennai: Actor and director Dhanush, who plays a character running an idly shop in his upcoming film Idli Kadai, has revealed that he had always wanted to become a chef.

Speaking at the trailer launch event in Coimbatore, Dhanush said, “I don't know why… I keep getting chef roles. I wanted to cook. I wanted to become a chef. Maybe because I had such a desire, I am continuing to get films and roles like that. In Jagame Thandiram, I made parottas. In Thiruchitrambalam, I was a delivery boy. In Raayan, I had a fast food shop. In this movie, I make idlis. When I write a script for myself, I get a chef role, and when other directors approach me, I still get such roles. I think that is due to manifestation.”

Elaborating further, he said, “What you think, you become. The power of manifestation has continued to follow me even after I turned an actor. Youngsters must manifest what they want to achieve in life. They must believe that what they have in mind has already been achieved. Anybody can achieve anything they want. Keep meditating on your goal and work hard. Manifest and work hard on your dreams. I am just sharing what happened in my life.”

Dhanush described Idli Kadai as a simple and humble film. “Nevertheless, it is an emotional film that you can watch and enjoy with your entire family,” he told fans.

Produced jointly by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, Idli Kadai was originally scheduled to release worldwide on April 10 but has been postponed to October 1.

Sources reveal that Arun Vijay plays the antagonist in the film, and his face-off with Dhanush is expected to be a highlight. Shalini Pandey also plays a pivotal role, as previously speculated.

The film stars Dhanush and Nithya Menon in the lead, is directed by Dhanush himself, features cinematography by Kiran Koushik, and music composed by G.V. Prakash.
