Ranveer Singh’s upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set for a strong start at the box office, with premiere advance bookings approaching Rs 20 crore ahead of its release.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is scheduled to release on March 19, with premiere shows planned a day earlier on March 18.

According to box office tracking platform Sacnilk, the film has recorded Rs 19.01 crore in gross advance bookings for its premiere screenings.

Advance bookings for the sequel opened on March 7, shortly after the trailer launch. The film has sold more than 3.5 lakh tickets across 8,371 shows for its premiere screenings. Of these, over 1.5 lakh tickets were sold through PVR Inox.

The Rs 19.01 crore gross has surpassed the previous premiere collection record held by Stree 2, placing Dhurandhar 2 at the top spot for premiere collections. The figure rises to Rs 24.2 crore when blocked seats are included. The all-time record for paid previews is currently held by OG starring Pawan Kalyan, which collected Rs 25 crore.

Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Inox Ltd, said the response to advance bookings has been strong. “We have already surpassed 150,000 tickets in advance sales, and we are anticipating full capacity audiences for the preview screenings of Dhurandhar: The Revenge nationwide,” he told Variety India.

The first film in the franchise, Dhurandhar, was made on a budget of around Rs 200 to Rs 250 crore and went on to gross more than Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. The sequel is reportedly produced on a budget of about Rs 200 to Rs 225 crore.
