Kolkata: After stealing MPs and MLAs from opposite parties, Amit Shah's BJP has now staked claim upon an entire rally organised by another party.

Ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls, the CPM conducted a maha rally last week at Brigade Parade ground in Kolkata. In the rally joined by the Congress and the Indian Secular Front, lakhs of people gathered. Since last week, several Left and Congress activists have been circulating the photos, alleged to be from the gathering, on Twitter and Facebook. However, the BJP is now claiming these photos as their own. The Sangh Parivar activists have been circulating photos of the CPM rally on social media claiming it to be from the rally conducted by PM Modi the other day on the same ground.

Fact-checking website Alt News has revealed that these pictures are from programmes conducted years ago by the Left front. The photos, also tweeted by CPIM West Bengal last year, have been identified as rallies organised by the Left in 2019 and 2014. Though the red flags are clearly identifiable in the original image, BJP handles have edited the photo to make it seem saffron.
