Volunteers including 3,000 Americans to fight in Ukraine: report

Washington: Ukraine's appeal for help has not fallen on deaf ears, if reports from that part of the world are true.

Many out there, not least from USA and former Soviet states, have volunteered to fight Russian forces alongside the rag-tag Ukraine military.

Quoting a representative from Kiev's embassy in Washington, media reports say that as many as 3,000 Americans can't wait to hit warfront.

"Volunteers have responded to Ukraine's appeal for people to serve in an international battalion that will help resist Russia's invading forces," VOA News reported.

The official whom the media quoted added that more have volunteered from other countries—especially from former Soviet states including Georgia and Belarus.

Failing to withstand Russian fire-power, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier appealed for help from international community.

The president on March 3 said that 16,000 foreign volunteers asking to " join thedefense of Ukraine , Europe and the World", the report said.

"We have nothing to lose but our own freedom," the President had said.

Russia began its invasion on February 24 laying to waste cities after cities, razing to ground public buildings, including TV stations.

European countries and NATO have not come out for open confrontation with Russian.

Instead they chose to deliver arms to besieged nation, which only served so much in stopping Russian forces.

USA largely relies on seeking to sanction Russian to put it in its place on financial front.
