New York: A disturbing video emerged from the US showed high school students kissing and licking peanut butter off their classmates’ bare feet for a fundraiser event at an Oklahoma school, The New York Post reported.
At least four students, lying on their stomach, were seen sucking and licking one another’s toes at Deer Creek High School event.
The off-putting episode took place on what looked to be a gym floor while many students cheered the participants.
The Oklahoma State Department of Education initiated an investigation with the footage garnering millions of views on social media.
Moderators reportedly watched the bizarre competition with one student was heard crying: ‘He is devouring those!’
Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters reacted to the incident, saying: ‘This is disgusting. We are cleaning up this filth in Oklahoma schools. Our agency is investigating,’ adding in another post, ‘ ‘This is child abuse’.
The event was filmed on February 29, 2024 during the Clash of Classes assembly, organised as part of the fundraising campaign for a coffee shop in the vicinity of the school that hires individuals with special needs.
Students from classes 9th to 12th took part in the competitions including toe-sucking tournament to which their classmates paid for attendance.
The campaign named as ‘Wonderful Week of Fundraising’ reportedly raised $152,830.38.
As the video gained national attention, administrators issued an apology saying ‘ we failed to uphold the dignity of our students and the proud image of our community’.
A student, expressing shock at the event, told Fox News: ‘It was surprising. I didn't think they were going to do all that. I was just shocked. I didn't really have like a feeling. I was kind of disgusted, and then kind of glad I wasn't over there.’
