US man who threatens to kill Vivek Ramaswamy at campaign arrested

New Delhi: A man was arrested on Monday for threatening to ‘blow brains out’ of Indian-origin Republican US presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

The 30-year-old Tyler Anderson of Dover, New Hampshire, responded to a campaign text about an upcoming event, writing ‘Great, another opportunity for me to blow [the candidate's] brains out!’

In another message he said he was going to kill ‘everyone who attends’ the event, according to the US Justice Department.

Ramaswamy's campaign team quickly informed the police about the messages they received in response to their voter notification, according to FBI communique.

The ‘crucial information’ that the campaign team provided and additional data from law enforcement helped police confirming Anderson’s identity and arrest him.

Ramaswamy thanked the law enforcement agencies for swiftly arresting Anderson.

‘I'm grateful for the team that's around us and they've been doing a great job in making sure that I'm kept safe,’ he was quoted as saying.

Anderson is more likely to face five years in prison, and a fine up to $250,000 alongside ‘up to three years of supervised release.’
