Trump to skip Republican presidential debates, hinging on his ‘huge popularity’

Washington: Former US President Ronald Trump, who is running for White House for the third time, appears to be highly confident in his popularity.

Trump on Sunday said he would not be appearing for presidential debate, a political ritual in US polls for candidates to showcase their policies.

Taking his to personal platform Truth Social, Trump described himself as hugely popular among American people having a successful record as president.

He boiled down his self-praise to announce that he would not be doing customary presidential debates for Republican party nomination.

‘I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!’ Trump announced.

The first debate for 2024 Republican presidential nomination will take place on Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Given what he said, he is more likely to skip all debates.

Trump, however, noted that his ratings including the one published by CBS News are far ahead of other Republicans.

The survey said 62 percent of those polled for it would vote for him in the upcoming polls.

This is despite Trump has been indicted for four times including on charges of attempting to subvert US democracy after 2020 polls.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 16 percent rating is the closest contender to Trump.

Trump earlier claimed he had a successful presidency, citing areas where he boosted his country including energy, border security, the military, and the economy.
