Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man from Telangana and a Sudanese national died of dehydration after having been stranded in Saudi Arabia's Rub' al Khali desert, NDTV reported.
Mohammad Shehzad Khan, resident of Karimnagar, and his colleague were lost in the desolate Empty Quarter part of the desert, which is known as one of the most dangerous regions in the world.
Mohammad Shehzad Khan had been working with a telecommunications company in the country for three years.
Stretching over 650 kilometres, the Rub' al Khali desert spreads across Saudi Arabia's southern regions and neigbouring countries.
Shehzad, accompanied by the Sudanese national, got lost in the desert after their GPS signal failed and their mobile phones were left with flat batteries.
Alongside, their vehicle ran out of fuel, stranding them without food or water in the scorching heat of the desert.
Both of them died of severe dehydration and exhaustion, according to the report.
Their bodies were discovered four days later on Thursday as lying near their vehicle in the sand dunes.
