Shahid Afridi sees Taliban allowing women to work as its positive side

Islamabad: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi said that the Taliban comes with a positive mind and praised the militant group for allowing women to work.

He was seen saying: "They're allowing ladies to work in various fields including politics" in a video shared by Pakistani journalist Naila Inayat. He was speaking to the media.

Several Afghan athletes and politicians, particularly women, have fled the country due to the Taliban's extreme beliefs regarding women's rights. Many are in fear of repercussions for their progressive actions in the past 20 years. When the terror group is in charge of Afghanistan 20 years ago, women were forced to live according to the sharia law.

The 46-year-old cricketer added that the Taliban loves cricket and their presence will help cricket in Afghanistan grow. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chief executive officer Hamid Shinwari said that players and officials were safe.
