UK's Health Regulator on Saturday informed that seven who developed rare blood clots after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccinations died, though the reasons remain uncertain.
Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) had previously reported that 30 recipients of the vaccine had developed rare blood clots. A total of 22 cases of cerebral vein thrombosis and eight other types of thrombosis were also reported as of March 24 though it is unclear if the two are connected. Over 18 million in the country have already received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
"The benefits in preventing a Covid-19 infection and its complications continue to outweigh any risks, and the public should continue to get their vaccine when invited to do so," said June Raine, Chief Executive of MHRA. Several countries, such as Canada and Germany, have imposed restrictions on AstraZeneca vaccines after reports of blood clots.
