Riyadh: Saudi Arabia on Friday reaffirmed its full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia, rejecting the recent declaration of mutual recognition between Israel and Somaliland.
Israel on Friday formally recognised Somaliland as an “independent and sovereign state” and signed an agreement to establish diplomatic ties, a move hailed by the region’s leader as its first-ever official recognition.
The Kingdom stressed its rejection of any attempts to create parallel entities that undermine Somalia’s unity, according to the Saudi Press Agency. It also reiterated its support for the legitimate institutions of the Somali state and emphasised its commitment to preserving Somalia’s stability and the welfare of its people.
