Russia is to vaccinate 4 lakh people in armed forces

Russia is to vaccinate more than 4 lakh people in armed forces against Covid-19 informed the Defence minister Sergei Shoigu as reported by Reuters. He said that about 2,500 military people have already been vaccinated and they are expecting it to reach 80,000 by the end of next month.

The clinical trial shows that the vaccine has 95 per cent efficiency. Russia which is working on many vaccines currently is the fourth largest infected country in the world. Cases of infection keep skyrocketing in the country with authorities hesitating to impose lockdowns.

Hetero, Indian pharmaceutical company is planning is manufacturing more than 100 million doses of Russian vaccine Sputnik V per year under a deal with Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) stated Russia's sovereign wealth fund. The production is to begin in the first few months of 2021.

RDIF in collaboration with its international partners in India, China, Brazil, South and other countries Korea will produce the vaccines to meet the requests received for about 1.2 billion doses of vaccine from around 50 countries across the globe.
