PM Modi, Joe Biden gives each other remarkable gifts during White House dinner

New Delhi/Washington: PM Modi’s historic state visit to the US is shot through with features including a dinner at White House, among others.

However, the official gifts that both leaders handed each other grabbed most of the media attention today.

PM Modi gave Joe Biden a handcrafted sandalwood box containing silver idol of Lord Ganesha, a diya and ‘ Das Danam’.

To the First Lady Jill Biden, Modi gave a 7.5 carat eco-friendly green diamond.

‘ Das Danam’ included in the gift to Biden signifies that the person who receives it has seen one thousand full moons, completing the age of 80 years and eight months.

The gift to President Biden is timely as he turns 81 in November.

The Prime Minister Modi gifted Joe Biden the first edition print of the book 'The Ten Principal Upanishads', NDTV reported.

The diamond for Jill Biden was kept in a box made of paper pulp, known as kar-e-kalamdani.

Bidens gifted PM Modi a handmade, antique American book galley, a vintage American camera, a hardcover book of American wildlife photography and alongside a signed, first edition copy of 'Collected Poems of Robert Frost.

PM Modi attended a record-setting yoga session at the UN headquarters in New York and previously on Tuesday received in a rousing welcome in New York.

PM Modi is the third Indian to be invited for a state visit, which involves an invitation to the state head’s official residence.
