Philippines is hit by a 5.3-magnitude earthquake

On Sunday, a 5.3 magnitude offshore quake struck Davao Oriental province in the Philippines.

Xinhua reported that the quake struck 98 kilometers southeast of the town of Manay, at a depth of 19 kilometers, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

As a result of the tectonic quake, there will be aftershocks, but no damage will be caused.

A magnitude 6.1 and a magnitude 5.4 earthquake shook the Philippines on Saturday. No damages have been reported. The Philippines is frequently hit by earthquakes because of its position along the Pacific Ring of Fire, which features volcanic activity and frequent earthquakes.
