Pak army chief issues fresh threat against India on Op Sindoor day

Rawalpindi: Asim Munir has once again issued a strong military warning against India on the first anniversary of the India-Pakistan conflict linked to “Operation Sindoor.” Speaking at a special event held at the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi on May 10, the Pakistani Army chief warned that any future military action by India would trigger severe consequences and that any war would not remain confined to border regions.

This is the fourth public threat issued by Asim Munir against India since Pakistan suffered major setbacks during Operation Sindoor last year.

“Our enemies should know that if any attempt is made in the future to carry out a misadventure against Pakistan, then the impact of war would not be limited, but extremely widespread, dangerous, far-reaching and painful,” Economic Times quoted him.

He claimed Pakistan had achieved a strategic victory in the conflict, which he described as “Marka-e-Haq” or a battle for truth. Munir also repeated Pakistan’s claim that India had sought American intervention to secure a ceasefire during the confrontation.

The conflict erupted in May 2025 after a Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam triggered a massive Indian military response. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, with the Indian Air Force and Army carrying out strikes deep across the border. According to the claims surrounding the operation, Indian forces destroyed nine major terror camps and crippled Pakistan’s air defence systems.

The confrontation escalated rapidly, with reports stating that India shot down 13 Pakistani fighter jets and eliminated more than 100 terrorists during the operation. Tensions eased temporarily only after hotline talks between the military leadership of both countries on May 10.

Munir’s latest remarks are expected to further intensify already fragile relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
