OREGON (US): Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Nike has shut down its operations in Russia and has withdrawn from the country. They joined the other international brands in suspending their enterprises after the war in Ukraine began.
Three months ago, Nike Inc. suspended its work in all of its company-owned and operated stores in the country. Similar to the other major corporations, they also tried to avoid distressing their employees by ordering a complete withdrawal, the New Indian Express reported.
Last month, the Russian newspaper Vedomosti reported that the company announced an end to its relationship with its largest franchise in the country, Inventive Retail Group. "Our priority is to ensure we are fully supporting our employees while we responsibly scale down our operations over the coming months," the sports apparel maker said on Thursday.
Recently, McDonald's and Starbucks also withdrew from Russia after discontinuing their operations.
