Parents of an Afghan girl born on a C-17 military aircraft in an evacuation flight from Kabul have decided to name her 'Reach' after the plane's call sign.
The head of US European Command said that Reach is the only child born on the evacuation flight. General Tod Wolters said that the transport aircraft's call sign is Reach 828, reported The Indian Express.
Reach was born on Saturday, and the 86th Medical Group members assisted the mother in the delivery. The mother experienced low blood pressure-related complications. The pilot descended to an altitude to increase air pressure in the plane which helped to stabilise her condition. The aircraft was flying from Kabul to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Two more babies were born over the past week at Landstuhl Regional Medical Centre, the US military hospital in Germany.
