Migrants' boats sinking: 24 more bodies, death toll 67

Tunis: After the four boats that ferried African migrants to Italy across the Mediterranean sank last month, the Tunisian coast guard retrieved 24 more human bodies and confirmed the death toll reached 67 on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

The four boats had carried 120 people, and they sank off the coast of Tunisia at the end of April. More than 50 people are still missing.

The boats sank on April 23, and the coast guard had recovered 17 bodies the next day and had rescued 98 people from peril.

People who are ridden by conflict and poverty from Africa and the Middle East are using the Sfax coastline to head to Europe in search of a better life. Many have drowned on the Tunisian coasts in recent months, and most of the migrants from Libya and Tunisia are heading toward Italy. A massive number of migrants have already made it to Italy, too, Agence France Press reported.
