Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed his government’s stance of not recognizing Israel and maintaining unwavering support for the Palestinian people. Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru, the Prime Minister dismissed reports suggesting Malaysia would work to improve ties with Israel.
In an interview with a US media outlet following the summit, the Malaysian Prime Minister reaffirmed that the country would not alter its policies regarding relations with Israel. He emphasized that Malaysia would not recognize Israel as a state and reiterated its unwavering commitment to justice.
Prime Minister Anwar emphasized that although Israel is a member of the United Nations and recognized as a state by many countries, Malaysia firmly rejects such recognition.
Highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, Anwar noted that Malaysia was the only country to address Israeli aggression in Palestine during the APEC summit. He questioned how discussions on free trade could proceed while the rights of a nation were being denied and pledged full support for the Palestinian people in all areas where assistance was required.
Meanwhile, Israeli attacks continue in Palestine, with the focus now on the West Bank. Attacks are ongoing in several cities across the West Bank. Israeli aggression is also continuing in Lebanon.
