Iran vows decisive response to potential US military escalation

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warned the United States against taking any "adventurous" military actions, asserting that those responsible will bear the full consequences of their choices.

Araghchi delivered the warning during a series of diplomatic telephone conversations with key regional counterparts, including Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. In his exchanges with Pakistani and Turkish leadership, the foreign minister declared that Iran is fully prepared to safeguard its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, promising a decisive response to any act of aggression. During his discussion with his Saudi counterpart, Araghchi added that any hostile action by the United States or Israel, along with any regional assistance provided for such acts, would trigger a firm and proportionate response from Iran's armed forces.

The diplomatic push comes as airstrikes between the United States and Iran have resumed after a brief pause. Prior to the pause, Washington conducted several waves of strikes targeting Iranian positions, claiming the measures were necessary to protect commercial shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Tehran's Foreign Ministry formally accused the United States of breaching a peace memorandum of understanding reached in mid-June through ongoing strikes, a blockade on Iranian ports and commercial vessels, and intensified economic pressure. The ministry reaffirmed its resolve to resist what it termed unlawful aggression while continuing to defend the nation's dignity and independence.

In a separate conversation with British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Araghchi also cautioned London against aiding Washington in military strikes against Iran, stressing that any cooperation with aggressors, even under existing defense agreements, remains strictly unacceptable.
