Dubai: Iran on Monday confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, chief of the navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The confirmation comes days after Israel claimed it had killed Tangsiri, a rear admiral, on Thursday.
In a statement broadcast on state television, the Guard said Tangsiri “joined the ranks of Allah due to the severity of his injuries.” The statement praised his contributions, particularly his role in helping Iran maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz. It added, “Every fighter is a Tangsiri, and we will see what surprises they will bring in the days and months ahead.”
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that a petrochemical plant located around 530 kilometres northwest of Tehran was struck on Monday. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze at the site.
