Gunman in New York kills 10, broadcasting live on internet

Buffalo: An 18-year-old white gunman wearing body armour went live online showing himself shooting and killing 10 people and wounding three others on Saturday at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.

Police identified the suspect as Payton Gendron, 18, of Conklin, according to the New York Times.

The racially motivated shooting took place at the historically Black neighborhood.

Of the 13 victims, 11 are Black and two are white, the report said.

The suspect, now in custody, will face the highest murder charge in New York State.

Authorities reportedly said that the suspect drove to Buffalo from his home in New York county Saturday afternoon.

He appeared to have acted alone, according to Reuters, broadcasting attack on the internet.

He was heavily armed as well as wearing combat outfit.

Finally when confronted with the police, he held his gun to his own neck.

Police talked him into dropping the weapon, according to the report, before arresting him.

Those killed include a guard and nine customers besides three employees of the store were wounded who according to the report would survive.
