Football is for everyone including those who possess no legs: teacher’s praise for the Qatar Emir goes viral

Doha: A Doha based school teacher’s glowing praise for the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s leadership in hosting the FIFA World Cup football gets wide traction on Facebook.

Sunila Rajkumar, teacher junior section MES Indian school Doha Qatar, begins her letter by doubting if the ruler will at all happen to come across her writing.

Though the streets of Qatar are quiet again with players already back home, the world still chants the name of the small country and its ruler, she wrote.

Pouring her heart out for the ruler’s efficient leadership, she called him the embodiment of the phrases “now is all” and “impossible is nothing.

The2022 FIFA World Cup, held in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December, was the first World Cup hosted in the Arab World as well as the second in Asia following the 2002 gala matches in South Korea and Japan.

FIFA World Cup Qatar has received record-breaking TV audience numbers alongside catering to around 32 million digital viewers from India alone.

Sunila Rajkumar’s praise for the Emir of Qatar comes after FIFA announced on its website that the world cup is “continuing to engage TV audiences around the world with record-breaking numbers across multiple markets”.

Rajkumar further said that “Your mastery of the art of love has allowed you to turn enemies into dear friends”, adding that as a ruler he is not dominating over the subjects but instead chooses to guide and protect them.

Singling out the ruler in praise, she said the hard work he had put into organising the world cup brought to her mind the words to the song at the opening ceremony.

She quoted the line that read:

"Look who we are

We are the dreamers

We'll make it happen

Because we believe it."

She also said that the ruler showed the world football is for everyone including those who possess no legs.
