Jeddah: Expatriates staying in foreign countries with Saudi employment visas can now renew their visa and extend the re-entry period through the online portal of Saudi Jawazat (Passport) Department, Absher.
According to Saudi Passport Department, Technology Division, out of the 12 newly added services on the Absher portal, two were earmarked for this purpose. Natives and foreigners can get passport services through Absher without approaching the Jawazat office in person.
Those who have left for their native places on leave can renew their visa and extend the re-entry visa period while they are away from the kingdom. This service was not available before.
Renewal of visas of the dependents of the expatriates also was carried out with direct presence at the Jawazat offices. However, thanks to Absher, it can be done online now. The new services included in the portal were launched by Interior Minister Amir Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef at a virtual ceremony held the day before.
