Billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday entered the headquarters of micro-blogging site Twitter carrying a bathroom sink in his hand ahead of a US court-ordered deadline to close the $44 billion buyout deal. He also changed his Twitter profile to refer to himself as "Chief Twit."
"Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!" said the caption of a video that Musk tweeted in which he was walking into the San Francisco office carrying a sink in his hands.
Musk's $44 billion deal to take Twitter private faces a Friday deadline, although the video he posted offered no evidence that the acquisition is complete.
Elon Musk agreed to buy Twitter in April, but in July, he said he was terminating the deal over concerns about the number of fake and spam bot accounts. However, the company rejected the claim and responded with a lawsuit against the billionaire in a bid to force the deal to go through.
The court has given both sides until October 28 to work out details after Musk agreed to purchase Twitter for $54.20 a share. If both parties fail to chalk out the details, there will be a trial in November.
