Cairo : Positive cases have spiked in the North African country Thursday from consoling numbers.
Health Minister Hala Zayed also confirmed 911 new cases and 42 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Following fewer covid19 cases and fatalities, the nations has been easing curbs over the past three months.
The plan was for a coexistence with the virus resuming economic activities with covid 19 precautions in place.
The two new tallies have increased the total deaths to 7,209 and the caseload touched 127,972, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Minister told the media the provinces of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Qalyubia had seen the highest caseload this week.
363 hospitals have been readied to receive infected patients across the country, the minister added.
Zayed said that Egypt signed contracts on December 4 with the Global Vaccine Alliance and Immunizations (GAVI) to obtain vaccines for the novel coronavirus, adding that Egypt received the first batch of vaccines already.
Medical staff in isolation hospitals, people with chronic diseases like cancer and kidney failure are among the first to receive the vaccine, Zayed said.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly Wednesday said New Year's Eve celebrations would be banned following new cases.
Madbouy asked officials to strictly enforce precaution and confront violations, to avoid a lockdown.
Egypt announced its first confirmed coronavirus case on February 14 and the first death on March 8.
Around mid-June, Egypt had witnessed a peak of daily infections and fatalities before they started to gradually decline in the first week of July.
