New Delhi: European nations are pulling all stops to stop Russia from destroying Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a federation of cat registries is doing their teeny bit with sanctioning on Russian cats.
Adorable Russian cats are eye-candy to cat lovers across the world, and they find comfy couches in homes as far away as in India.
Now The Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe) in a statement said it has measures against Russian cats being registered into its records.
The federation said it cannot 'Just witness these atrocities" referring to the continuing war in Ukraine that left the nation in rubbles.
FIFe has decided against Russian cats entering into exhibitions outside of Russia.
The sanction will see to it that no cat bred in Russia is to be imported and registered in any FIFe pedigree book outside Russia.
The registration could be denied regardless of the organisation that issued its pedigree.
The restrictions will continue till May 31, 2022, and could be reviewed based on the situation at the time, according to the statement.
"No cat belonging to exhibitors living in Russia may be entered at any FIFe show outside Russia, regardless of which organization these exhibitors hold their membership in", the statement said.
FIFe, known as the"United Nations of Cat Federations", has 42 members from 40 nations including Switzerland, UK and Germany.
"Many innocent people died, many more are wounded and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are forced to flee their homes to save their lives. We can all witness the destruction and chaos caused by this unprecedented act of aggression," the statement said.
Alongside the move against Russian cats, FIFe's several clubs in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova are "lending a helping hand to their Ukrainian breeder friends".
