Shanghai: A new set of rules for overseeing military equipment purchases was signed by China's government on Saturday, according to Xinhua.
President Xi Jinping made the announcement one day after he and U.S. counterpart Joe Biden discussed the Ukrainian conflict in a video call.
Biden warned China against supporting Russia's attack on Ukraine, saying the country makes its own decisions regarding a possible ceasefire there.
Xinhua said the rules will ensure good quality equipment is delivered to the army and would improve the oversight of military equipment purchase contracts.
A new set of rules will be implemented on March 20.
